Productivity tricks
Tricks like the Phone Foyer Method start from the assumption that you’re a weak pathetic child incapable of self control even in the minor decisions of life. Sure in every human there’s a level of tendency to react irrationally to certain stimuli. But to get better at life you need to reduce it. If you pet it with childish tricks, you reinforce it. You feed the idea that in a normal situation you’re powerless and prey of any irrational response. A better approach is to evaluate if a habit is good or bad for you. And then use your rational interest as support to stop or incetivize that behavior.
